Overview

Conversations allow you to focus in on a single thread of discussion within Syrinx.  When a user replies to a tweet, a conversation is formed.  A conversation can get larger when multiple people all reply to the same tweet, or a chain of replies is built.  Using conversations in Syrinx, all the non-related tweets are filtered out of your timeline, leaving only the chain of replies.

Displaying a Conversation

Selecting a reply and clicking the conversation button in the tweet button panel, selecting the conversation menu item under the tweet menu or using the conversation keyboard shortcut ⇧⌘C will show the conversation related to that tweet.  The conversation button will turn from dark grey to white for the selected tweet.  If the tweet that was replied to is in Syrinx, the the conversation will be displayed within Syrinx by filtering out all other tweets.  However, if the tweet that was replied to is not within Syrinx, a webpage showing the replied to tweet will be opened instead.  Requesting a conversation does not only find older tweets, it will also search for tweets newer than the selected tweet that may also be a part of the conversation.

You may notice that for some tweets the conversation button is disabled.  This is because conversations are only relevant for tweets that were replies to previous tweets.

Resuming

Once you are done examining a conversation, you can click the conversation button of the original tweet a second time to resume normal timeline view.  You can also hit the escape key.
